Hi all,
i am a new member, my name is Simon Willsmore and i match fish England with Daiwa Dorking and work with Milo, basically my wife is Danish and i have been coming to Aalborg on holiday for years but have no info on fishing in that area. Are there any good lakes in this area?
Also i would possibly like to fish the spring cup 2013, if the fishing as awesome as it looks!? Any teams need a guest?

Hi Simon, welcome to the site
Hi Simon, welcome to the site.
We have actually met briefly in the Milo warehouse in Milano. I think it was in 2008, just before the EC in Cavo Lama.
First of all, the area around Aalborg is not really the capital of match fishing in Denmark, so most of us don't have a lot of knowledge of venues really close to Aalborg.
I've fished a local river, Ryaa near aabybro, it is full of coarse fish and I think you will have a good days fishing here (bream, roach, perch and chance of ide) - catch report: http://medesiden.dk/indhold/caf%C3%A9-de-ryaa. Permit: http://dagkort.dk/?p=assoc&assoc=3
If you dare (or are allowed) to venture a bit further away, then I highly recommend River Guden near Randers. We mainly fish here in the spring, since the lillies make the fishing difficult or impossible in a lot of pegs from mid-may until the first frost. However, it is still possible to fish here for a pleasure session, and you will bag up almost anywhere you go. The part we use for the Spring Cup is this one: http://medesiden.dk/indhold/gudenaen-stevnstrup, where you will both find quality roach, as well as big bream, ide and rudd (rudd are caught to almost 2 kgs here).
If it has to be lake fishing, then I don't have a lot of knowledge, but maybe this list can give you some ideas: http://www.stovring-lystfisk.dk/side/fiskevand_gratis.html. All the lakes in the link are free to fish, as long as you got the national permit. The fishing in River Guden at Stevnstrup (in the link) is also free, when you got the national permit, however you have to buy a dayticket to fish Ryaa.
If you need further help to either of these venues, feel free to ask.
Regarding the Spring Cup in 2013, then I don't think it will be a problem to find another angler to form a team with you.

PS: I don't know of the availability of maggots in the aalborg area, but I predict that you will have trouble finding any. If you need maggots, we may be able to help you out (shipping a pint or two by mail), just let us know in advance.
Cheers Rikard, yes i remember
Cheers Rikard, yes i remember meeting a group of danish guys there at Milo, one guy i chatted to was a Rynair pilot. Thanks for the information, the River Ryaa is near my sister in laws house so that could be a good option. How many anglers fish the spring cup and how many in a team? That River Guden looks fantastic on you tube. Thanks again.
Spring Cup
River Guden IS amazing...
There are very few places where you can catch 30 kg's of roach in a 4 hour match on pole..!
Spring Cup is a two man team event, taking place over two days.
So as Rikard said, it shouldn't be a problem teaming up with someone to enter the contest...
Don't hesitate to ask if you need help or explaining with anything else..!
The pilot is Peter Larsen
The pilot is Peter Larsen (username: bingo_fuel), and he really talks a lot :)
I think Ryaa is a good option, you should be able to find decent pegs without too much walking included. Again, if you are in shortage of live bait, feel free to ask for help, and we will see what we can do. However, a tin of corn will get you a long way, the fish are not really picky about their diet.
Regarding Spring Cup, it is as Struck pointed out a teams competition, with 2 man in every team. We are about 15-20 teams in total. We've made the 2-man teams since the pegging is really not fair, so we sort of seed the draw so you get either a good and a bad peg or two mediocre, in order to even things out. The winners are usually those who are able to get good points from bad pegs, and it's certainly possible.
nice one
Nice one, thanks for that.We come to Denmark every year so next year in the spring it would be great if i can combine a family visit and a bit of fishing on a great venue. This weekend maybe our first matches of the winter with ice on the lakes, (Gold valley, willow park), as it has been so mild but there is no bloodworm or joker available,so it has be banned at gold to make match the match fair and willow is fishing hard as the owners netted most of the roach out.I might stay in the pub and watch football instead!
Hello Simon
I know a guy who ,s living in ålborg who is looking for a partner for the spring cup his name is Daniel so that could be an idea just let me know? cheers

Cheers Mark, i cannot fish this year as the dates don't fit but hopefully in 2013,thanks anyway.
